One of St. Simons most popular sports is GOLF. Numerous courses offer challenging layouts and a variety of play and scenery. St. Simons Island is home of Davis Love III and many others who love the game of golf. Semi-tropical weather makes golfing possible year around.

St. Simons and Glynn County offer more golfing facilities than any county in the state of Georgia. Some of the courses listed below are private; the majority are public and semi-private year-round courses.


Boating opportunities in the Atlantic, Intracoastal Waterway and Rivers abound. A knowledge of tidal conditions and Georgia's boating safety laws will make your boating activities safe and more enjoyable.

All power craft must be launched from approved ramp areas. A distance of 1000 feet is required between any power craft (including jet skis) and the beach. St. Simons Marinas include: Golden Isles Marina, Hampton River Club Marina, St. Simons Boating and Fishing Club, Taylor's Fish Camp, Village Creek Landing. In addition, a boat ramp is located at the MacKay River Bridge. Boat rentals, both power craft and wind-powered, are available. Boating Instructions are offered by several seasoned captains.

St. Simons Island and the adjacent coastal waters offer fisherman a great place to drop a line. Surf fishing from the beach or off the St. Simons Village Pier is a favorite past time. During the cooler fall and winter months fisherman enjoy trout and bass fishing. Inshore fishing could net: Sea Trout, Flounder, Bass, Redfish, Whiting, Shark and Tarpon . Or offshore fish for : Tarpon, Shark, King Mackerel, Spanish Mackerel, Cobia, Amber Jack, Barracuda or Grouper . Local Marinas sponsor tournaments and attract anglers from all over the Southeast for the challenge, prizes and fish stories.
